Xtina Talks Childhood, Babies and Sex!

Posted By LolaDub on Jul 2, 2008 at 5:40AM

Christina Aguilera was interviewed for the upcoming issue of Glamour Magazine. In the mag Xtina really opens up about her childhood, how motherhood has changed her and how Jordan and her get alone time together.

Read tidbits from the interview below:

GLAMOUR: Despite your tough childhood, you grew up into a solid person. What do you think when you see people in your industry, like Amy Winehouse, self-destruct?
Christina Aguilera: I'm not a judgmental person, so I can't comment on someone else's background. [As for me], I think I've always had a strong sense of self. My mom brought me up to believe that my talent is a gift and a blessing. But I have definitely made some mistakes that I would never do again.

GLAMOUR: Like what?
Christina Aguilera: When I was 21 and made Stripped, I was pretty distraught about some personal issues coming up from my past. I was going out and partying a lot--as people do at that age--and did some very unhealthy things to deal with the pain. But I was able to say, "OK, hold on."

GLAMOUR: So how do you manage nowadays to avoid paparazzi?
Christina Aguilera:
A lot of people go out of their way [to be photographed]; I make a conscious effort to keep me and my family out of the limelight. The other day a paparazzo actually pulled up to my husband on the street and said, "Geez, I know the new house is big, but I've been trying to get a picture of you for months--you never leave the house!" And it's true: I'll go out at night after spending time with my son, but [during the day] I just hang out on my grounds, taking him for walks in the stroller in the backyard where we won't be seen.

GLAMOUR: How do you manage to make time for yourself?
Christina Aguilera: Obviously I didn't do anything today--you're not allowed to look at my nails!

GLAMOUR: How has your relationship with Jordan changed since the baby?
Christina Aguilera: It's brought us closer--we're bonded together for life. Relationships and great marriages are a whole learning and growing process. We're just great teammates.

GLAMOUR: So, how do you guys keep things sexy these days?
Christina Aguilera: We make sure we have Mommy and Daddy nights out. Our child comes first, obviously, but there are certain things you can do: Once we know he's in good hands, we go out late at night and have a few drinks. Then we'll come home, dim the lights and do our thing--and I'm not going into any more detail than that!

News On Xtina's Upcoming Album

Posted By LolaDub on Jun 12, 2008 at 5:25AM

Christina Aguilera is indeed a working mother. She is ready for a new album and she wants something pretty different and futuristic. Her friend and musical director, Rob Lewis says that Aguilera took them to Kanye West's concert to analyze his work because she's thinking of working with him.

Rob says,

"When I talked with Christina in Vegas about a week and a half ago, she was concerned about how she would sound vocally, because she hasn't been singing much at all...since TOUR! So I asked her had she been recording, and she said that she was working on some things, but not really singing. (Of course, Christina sounded powerful and great as usual)

I know that for this next album, she wants to go to more of a "futuristic" sound. She invited me and Sasha to accompany her and Jordan to the Kanye West concert in LA, where the whole time, we analyzed his performance, the staging, the music, etc. She even asked my thoughts on a collaboration between him and her...

I don't quite know where she is in the recording process. I usually help her produce her vocals for all of her recordings, outside of the records she does with Linda Perry, and will most likely become involved when she starts to record from home. But I can tell you that what you will see and hear from Christina will be different, original, and probably against the grain: the true form for Christina...always re-creating herself."

A Kanye and Christina collaboration would be AWESOME!! Both are talented beyond belief and it would be really exciting to hear what they come up with.

Christina Aguilera is raising awareness about the upcoming Presidential election

Posted By LolaDub on May 29, 2008 at 7:10AM

Christina Aguilera is doing her part to raise awareness about the forthcoming U.S. presidential elections - she’s appeared in a political campaign with her baby son.

The Beautiful hitmaker appears in an advert for Rock the Vote? - a non-profit organization aimed at encouraging youths to get involved in politics - ahead of the November elections.

She can be seen singing a lullaby of America the Beautiful to her son Max.

And the star had no reservations about her five-month-old baby appearing in the campaign, insisting it’s “inevitable that he will be subjected to some amount of press”.

She adds, “This election in particular is such an exciting and historical one, and so I was proud to have my son and I stand together for such a powerful moment and message in time.”

Christina Aguilera wanted to end the cycle of violence in her family

Posted By LolaDub on May 22, 2008 at 4:47AM

Aguilera seems like someone who wouldn’t take crap from anyone, if you ask me. She has a history of violence in her childhood, but somehow I just can’t see anyone pushing her around as an adult. She’s aware of the cycle of violence, and wanted to be sure it wouldn’t continue with her new husband.

Aguilera grew up witnessing her now-estranged father Fausto emotionally and physically abusing her mother Shelly - and she was determined not to subject her children to the same heartache.

She tells Us Weekly magazine, “We had many conversations before, and I really ensured that I put myself in the position to marry someone who was not going to repeat the cycle of abuse with my child and what I had endured as a child.

“I knew that my husband is not the type to have violent tendencies, and he would never hurt me.”

Contact Music

This isn’t the first time that Christina has talked about her violent past, saying “People don’t know domestic abuse unless they’re in it. It’s not only physical abuse, but there’s damage inside - mental abuse. It’s a sad thing to go through and watch. They play with your mind and make you feel bad about yourself.”

It is so true that abuse is as much about the mind as it is about physical or verbal abuse, and it can be harder to leave than any person who hasn’t been in that situation an understand. While it might appear that Christina is in the position of power in her relationship (she has the most money, and a successful career) it isn’t just as simple as leaving. An abusive partner holds the emotional power despite these things.

In the same interview that Christina talked about her relationship with Bratman, she also talked about how she lost her pregnancy weight. Her regime involved 90-minute, 5-day-a-week workouts with a trainer, and no white bread.

Note by Celebitchy: Why does it seem like Aguilera brings up this subject every 3-4 months? Maybe interviewers constantly ask her about it, and it must have been tough to live through. You want to give her the benefit of the doubt where this difficult subject is involved, but seeing yet another story about it makes me wonder.

Christina Aguilera: "Inspired" to Record After Having Baby

Posted By LolaDub on Feb 5, 2008 at 8:35AM

As she celebrates today's release of her new DVD set Back to Basics: Live and Down Under at Best Buy stores, new mom Christina Aguilera phoned into Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show this morning.

She revealed how her newborn son Max has inspired her to write her next album and also recalled her experience being pregnant.

"It's so weird to watch the [Back to Basics] DVD and know I was pregnant with this little guy in my belly," she said. "It's amazing."

When asked if her experience being pregnant will play a role on her next album, she said, "I'm very excited! I'm so inspired.

"This whole incredible thing that's taken place in my life, between the pregnancy and the birth...

"I've got so much in me to write about.

"This next record, I want to have a lot of fun with it. I've been brainstorming for the last nine months of my pregnancy.

"This next album will have a whole new me," she added. "A different me."

She also talked about Max's bris, the traditional Jewish baby naming and circumcision ceremony held at her house shortly after she and husband Jordan Bratman welcomed their son.

"I'm not Jewish, my husband is," she said. "I really had no idea about the bris....

"It was a very sweet experience," she added. "We had a lot of close friends come over and experience the bris with us."

Joking, she added, "We're such a non-conventional couple ... we had penis balloons everywhere!"

Seacrest asked her if she felt Paris Hilton let the cat out the bag by announcing her pregnancy before Aguilera herself has confirmed it.

"Um, you know, not really," she said. "People thought I was trying to keep it this big bad secret.

"Really, I just didn't want to address it.

"Paris did jump the gun on it ... she became the official announcer at a club appearance.

"It was funny," she said. "I laughed about it."

Aguilera will make her first post-baby appearance at a DVD signing at a West Hollywood Best Buy tonight
